Horror

My first horror movie I chose for this blog post is called Until Dawn and it was directed by David F. Sandberg and written by Gary Dauberman and Blair Butler. This movie was based on an original video game called Until Dawn as well and was developed by Supermassive Games.  Review: Until Dawn is an intense survival horror movie that blends supernatural suspense with psychological factors. The storyline follows a group of friends stranded in an isolated lodge where things start to unfold as the night falls. This story has many eerie sound designs and unpredictable twists to keep the watchers constantly on the edge of their seat, just like every horror movie should be. (Photo from imdb.com ) Ranking: I would rank this movie a 8/10. I thought this was a strong movie, but I'm a big fan of horror movies and I think there's many more movies that I thought caught my attention better.           Analysis: This movie explores many different...

Romance

My first romance film I chose for this blog was 10 Things I Hate About You. It was directed by Gil Junger and came out in 1999. This movie stars Julie Stiles and Heath Ledger.  Review : 10 Things I Hate About You is a romantic comedy of two young teens navigating love, independence, and identity. This film follows disobedient Kat Stratford, Julia Stiles, and the strange and peculiar bad boy Patrick Verona, Heath Ledger. What this movie highlights is the sharp humor and clever dialogue and how it shows the balance of teenage emotional experience with making it both heartfelt and entertaining.  (Photo by imdb.com ) Ranking : I absolutely love this movie and would rank this movie a 10/10. To me, I believe this is one of the best teen romantic comedies of its era, it’s very relatable, funny, and still relevant today because of its clever writing and strong performances by the actors.  Analysis : This movie advances from the modernization of Shakespeare's themes within rebelli...

Dramas

Drama films have a special way of exposing different kinds of human emotions. These emotions such as pain, love, and control truly make a drama movie great. These movies can help us step into the shoes of the movie's characters, to feel their struggles in life like they were our own.  Whether the drama movie focuses on love or loss, these movies explore the depths that maybe some comedies and action can overlook. Drama movies express wonderful performances, strong storytelling, and great emotional experiences. This can really make us viewers reflect on our own life stories and reveal that not every story has a hero or villain, but a person facing unbelievable emotions.  (Photo from Clker.com) My first movie I chose for this post was Don’t Worry Darling, it was directed by Olivia Wilde and came out in 2022. This movie stars famous singer Harry Styles and actor Florence Pugh. This film explores themes of illusion and control through a women's point of view.  Review: Don’t ...

Action

Image
Ever since I was little, I was never really into action packed movies. Whenever action movie night was happening in the living room with my family, I would always just go upstairs or beg my parents to change the movie. My dad and my brother were always into superhero movies and I started to get jealous from how much they spoke about this genre. I finally ended up giving action movies a chance. Ever since then, I have watched many action movies and will continue to watch this genre. However, I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite genre but I do think that action movies always have such a great storyline within each one. Action movies can show the viewers the importance of movies and why we watch movies through making us escape and feel alive.  (Photo from Clker.com) The first movie that struck my mind was F1: The Movie . This action movie came out this year in June and it was directed by Joseph Kosinski. This movie was visually engaging for me and had a really strong performance overall. R...

Comedy

Image
Everyone has that one movie or few movies that just brings you joy and pure laughter . For me, it’s White Chicks and Step Brothers. It never matters how many times I watch these two movies, they both will never fail to make me laugh. Comedy movies can do more than make everyone laugh. They can connect us through shared laughter, they can remind us it's okay to find humor in life's chaos, and they can show how humans can be ridiculous.  For this post, I’ll be exploring two of my favorite comedies and what makes them so memorable.  (Photo by Pinterest) One comedy that came straight to mind is White Chicks . This comedy came out in 2004 and it was directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans. In my opinion this is one movie that is impossible not to laugh at because of how outrageous it is.  Review: This movie follows two undercover FBI agents who act as wealthy socialites to solve a kidnapping case. It has dramatic disguises, with hilarious situations, and has numerous entertaining sce...
