Action

Ever since I was little, I was never really into action packed movies. Whenever action movie night was happening in the living room with my family, I would always just go upstairs or beg my parents to change the movie. My dad and my brother were always into superhero movies and I started to get jealous from how much they spoke about this genre.

I finally ended up giving action movies a chance. Ever since then, I have watched many action movies and will continue to watch this genre. However, I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite genre but I do think that action movies always have such a great storyline within each one.

Action movies can show the viewers the importance of movies and why we watch movies through making us escape and feel alive.

The first movie that struck my mind was F1: The Movie. This action movie came out this year in June and it was directed by Joseph Kosinski. This movie was visually engaging for me and had a really strong performance overall.

Review: This movie was about a retired racing driver from the 1990s, Sonny Hayes, who got pulled out of retirement to mentor a rookie driver, Joshua Pearce, and help save a struggling F1 team owned by his former teammate, Ruben Cervantes.

Ranking: I would rank this movie at about an 8/10. I do believe that prior knowledge about F1 would help going into the movie, however, I still thought it kept me on my toes with the pacing of the movie. I do believe it was entertaining but what made it an 8/10 for me was the corny lines and some plot cliches that were cringey.

Analysis: I thought it was very helpful knowing a little about F1 and honestly it made me understand it more. This movie was very cool to me because it used real F1 cars and tracks and also had very advanced filming techniques to help elevate realism.

Comments: Following the ending of the movie, I wonder if there will be a prequel or sequel.

Another movie that sparked my interest was Baby Driver. This movie was directed by Edgar Wright and came out in 2017. This movie is an action thriller packed with very fast paced scenes.

Review: This movie plot was about a really talented getaway driver who got into some trouble with a crime boss and had to complete heists for him to earn freedom.

Ranking: I would rank Baby Driver a 8.5/10. I think this movie had it all. It covered many different aspects that a 10/10 movie would have, like romance, adventure, comedy, and very thrilling scenes.

Analysis: The cinematography in this movie really made a great impact on my overall liking of this film. I also really liked this movie because every shot moves in time with the beats like the footsteps and even dialogue. There were many quick pans in each scene which caused it to flow better and seem like the scene is quicker than it actually was.

: All I have to add is that I really just loved Edgars Wright's editing style and I thought it enhanced my experience.

As we close today's blog, I want to touch on the fact that action movies bring more than just explosions and violence. They bring emotion, adrenaline, and bigger stories that can make us sit at the edge of our seats.
